SALES TASKS/PROCESSES/RESPONSIBILITIES

SECTION ONE

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB (brief statement only of why the job exists).

The purpose of the job is to ensure company growth and profitability through driving sales revenue. This role is critical for developing relationship with clients, raising products awareness within the assigned territory.

SECTION TWO

DESCRIPTION OF TASK / PROCESSES AND OPERATIONS KEY RESULT AREAS (KRA) AND ACTIVITIES/ TASKSPERFORMANCE STANDARDS/ TASK MEASUREMENT
Sales-Drive sales and meet set targets

-Attend to all aspects of the trade for all customers

-Generate and process orders

-Timeously prepare reports

-Sales calls which require travel to assigned territories

Customer Relationship Management

 

At Branch Level

-Key Account Management

-Discussing and resolving branch specific issues

-Trade agreements: monitoring adherence to payments

Channel Management
-Supervision of merchandisers: support and monitoring the enforcement of planograms

 

-Ensuring adequate stock levels and stock range

 

-Product presentation, space, price

 

Business Development -Identifying gaps and opportunities

-Business reviews with key customers in your portfolio

 

Marketing Intelligence -Competitor analysis

-Provide recommendations to the business

 

SECTION THREE

KEY DECISIONS MADE

  • Decides on the quantity and range of the products in the market.
  • Decides on Promotions for key accounts.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

Supervision received from:

  • Sales & Marketing Manager

Supervision exercised to:

  • Merchandisers within your territory
  1. ADVISES
  • Sales & Marketing Manager
  • Merchandisers

INTERACTS WITH

  • All staff members
  • Retailers
  • Customers

PLANNING

  • Sales forecasts (for assigned territory)
  • Market visits cycle
  • Plan meetings with Key Accounts.
  • Reports

SECTION FOUR.

Working Conditions

  • Field & Travels out of town often.

Minimum requirements necessary to conduct/perform the job successfully.

i)Education and Qualifications

  • Degree (Sales & Marketing or related field)
  • Computer literacy
  • Clean class 4 Drivers license

ii)Experience:

(minimum length and type of relevant experience)

+2 years’ experience in FMCG / Distribution Sales (experience in selling perishables is an added advantage)

ESSENTIAL SPECIALIST SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED TO MEET DEMANDS OF THE JOB

  • Communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft office / Excel experience is required.
  • Analytical & Decision-making skills
  • High Interpersonal skills
  • Self-driven, curious, critical thinker
  • Ability to handle pressure and prioritise tasks.
  • Entrepreneurial skills
