The Marketers Association of Zimbabwe hosted its successful third edition of the MAZ Charity Gold Day on Friday August 2, 2019 at the ZRP Golf Club in Harare.
The tournament was well attended with about 32 teams drawn from the corporate sector mainly marketers taking their time out to come and play for charity.
The key drive behind this event was to promote charity while encouraging marketers to use the platform to network and also contribute to charity.
This year’s fundraising objective is to raise funds to mobilise 10 000 hats for people with albinism in the country.
Chairman of the organising committee, Mr Allan Musadzimura, thanked the marketers for their high out at the charity day
“I would like to thank you very much for supporting this charity golf tournament, this is our third edition and we are really so proud of the support we are getting from marketers,” said Mr Musadzimura
“Previously marketers never really participated actively in the game of golf but because of our immediate past President Agrippa Mugwagwa who really pushed for marketers to take up the game, we are seeing the high turnout and would like to thank you so much for your participation”.
Mr Musadzimura thanked all the sponsors for making the Charity golf day a success.
“As you know this is a charity event where we are channelling the proceeds to people with albinism. This year our target is 10 000 hats and we are hopeful that from the support you have given us we will be able to surpass our target. Thank you so much for the job well done,” he said.
He also encouraged other marketers who were not yet actively playing golf to take it up as it was also a networking platform.
The overall winner was Pride Zerera, who went away with the Agrippa Mugwagwa trophy,
Zerera, a police officer by profession also took home some prize money and vouchers.
The female golfer who was playing for the NSSA team at the tournament, was the overall winner, individual, with 45 points.
She also emerged first in the pairs with 46 points and also finished tops in winners for betterball.
The confident Zerera who started playing golf in 2016 said golf is more about passion.
“I only got serious about golf this year, and all along I would attend the Commissioner of Police golf tournament just for fun. I would like to advise especially ladies to take up golf playing because it’s all about passion and networking which may bring other opportunities,” she said.
