MAZ Charity Golf Day 2017 – All for a worthy cause

On Friday 4th of August, MAZ hosted its inaugural Charity Golf Day. Over 120 golfers converged at Chapman Golf Club to compete in a round of golf while at the same time contributing to the betterment of the lives of others. The importance of golf cannot be downplayed to any profession, especially to marketers. Hence the key driver behind this Golf Day was to encourage marketers to be more involved in golf, as well as, take advantage of networking opportunities with key decision and policy makers.

Proceeds of the Charity Golf day were in aid of students whose ages range from primary level to tertiary level. For tertiary students, MAZ came up with the MAZ Innovative Fund. This cause is mainly directed at students whereby Marketing Associations in colleges and universities will be asked to come up with proposals for a start-up business project. The winning University will be given money to start the project from the MAZ Innovative Fund. During the cocktail, student association representatives from Bindura University, Chinhoyi University and Midlands State University were handed over with a cheque which will be given to the Association that comes up with the most innovative entrepreneurial project.

The second cause was the “MAZ Donate a shoe Campaign”.  This initiative involves donating school shoes to those who otherwise cannot afford to buy a decent pair. This came about after realising that, we often take it for granted that everyone can afford a pair of shoes and yet the future leaders of tomorrow have to walk barefoot, sometimes braving rough roads and weather. As such, 2 rural schools in remote communities will be targeted and given shoes. MAZ has a desire is to buy over 500 pairs of shoes which will be donated. During the Golf Cocktail, some individuals came forward to donate school shoes to the cause.

The third initiative was that of donating school Fees for FACEZ (Fund A Child’s Education Zimbabwe). FACEZ’s vision is to build a powerful local based education fund that assists marginalized and under privileged children attain a brighter future through access education and holistic support. Lisa Chiriseri, the founder of the organization managed to bring some of the students that will be recipients of this donation.
